Born and raised in Darlington, England, Catherine Smith started dancing at the age of 3 at The Tiffany School of Dance (formerly “dancein Studio”). Her training was with The Royal Academy of Dance for ballet and Imperial Society for the Teachers of Dance for Modern, Tap and Jazz. She gained certification in classical ballet with the Royal Academy of Dance and modern jazz and tap with Imperial Society for the Teachers of Dance.
After completing formal education, and taking part in numerous dance shows and musicals with local and touring companies, she moved to London. She recently completed a three-year degree course in Ballet Education at the Royal Academy of Dance, obtaining an honours degree. While in London, she taught in public, private and community sectors. She was privileged to assist world-renowned ballet teachers in classes for children aged two and a half to early teens at the Royal Academy of Dance. Through working for the R.A.D, Catherine was instrumental in running and coordinating days of dance, ballet workshops and assisting in “Move It!”, England’s biggest dance exhibition. She is looking forward to being in North Carolina and especially having the opportunity of seeing this part of America.
